Maui, the adventure begins.

We started the day off right, with a great big snow cone.

This is us waiting to catch our train.  They had a train that we could play on.

Gentry is our conductor.  She is blowing her whistle to let us know we are about to miss our train.

This train us to move sugar cane around the island of Maui.  When the roads got put in and it was no longer productive to haul sugarcane with a train, the train started hauling passengers.  It was fun to ride behind a real steam engine.

Gentry is hanging out the window.
Gentry is quite the photographer.  Here she is waiting for the right moment to take her a picture.

After the train ride we went up haleakala crater to see the sun set.  On the way up, we stopped at a trail going off the side of the road.  Gentry became, "Gentry the explorer".  She was loving being and adventurer.

At the end of the trail you could see right down into the crater.  It was quite the view.

Here is the sunset from on top of the crater.  The drive was long and went all over the place, but the sunset made it worth the stomach ache.

It was cold on top of the crater, especially after the sun went down.  And especially, especially when your wife takes your coat to keep her legs warm.

We found this guy in our room when we got back to the ship.  This towel guy was Gentry's favorite because it was a dog.

This makes me think of mom. Mom always wanted to take us all on the Silverton train.

You know you didn’t have to go all the way to Hawaii just to ride a train.
